QUESTION & ANSWERS (FAQ)
What is cuddle therapy? Is it the same as massage or dating?
Cuddle therapy is a fully platonic, non-sexual therapeutic service that uses intentional touch and presence to support emotional well-being. It’s not a form of massage, and it is not romantic or sexual in any way. Unlike dating or relationships, the focus here is on emotional regulation, connection, and healing. Every session is consent-based, professional, and grounded in ethical touch.
Who is cuddle therapy for?
Cuddle therapy is for adults of all ages who are seeking safe, nurturing, platonic touch. This includes people experiencing grief, trauma, anxiety, loneliness, touch deprivation, neurodivergence, or simply wanting emotional support. We also work with veterans, caregivers, hospice patients, and anyone in need of rest and human connection
Is this therapy covered by insurance?
At this time, cuddle therapy is not typically covered by health insurance. However, if you’re working with a therapist or mental health provider, some clients choose to self-pay and integrate cuddle therapy as part of their broader emotional wellness plan. We’re happy to provide receipts if needed for flexible spending accounts or mental health documentation
What happens during a typical session?
Sessions begin with a brief check-in, followed by a series of platonic, nurturing touch positions—like side-by-side sitting, hand-holding, or supported cuddling. You are in control the entire time. Some clients talk, others rest in silence. Every session is tailored to your comfort and emotional needs, and we always check in along the way.
Do I need to take off my clothes?
No. All sessions are fully clothed, and we recommend wearing soft, comfortable clothing (like yoga pants, t-shirts, or sweatshirts). There is no nudity or sexual contact of any kind. Your comfort, consent, and safety are our top priorities at all times.
What if I’m nervous or have never done this before?
That’s completely normal—and actually, very common. Many of our clients are brand new to therapeutic cuddling. We always start with a virtual intake session so you can ask questions, explore your boundaries, and move at your own pace. There’s no pressure—only support.
Is this service LGBTQ+ friendly and affirming?
Absolutely. The Embrace Space is an inclusive and affirming practice that welcomes people of all identities, orientations, and expressions. Everyone deserves a safe, respectful, and healing touch. We are deeply committed to honoring your full identity and making you feel seen and supported.
Do you offer sessions for couples or friends?
Yes! We offer couples sessions for romantic partners, family members, or close friends who want to build connection through platonic, structured touch. It’s a great way to practice consent, co-regulation, and communication in a safe, guided environment.
What if I experience strong emotions or start crying during a session?
You are not alone—and this is a safe space for all of you, including your emotions. Crying, shaking, or expressing feelings is completely normal and welcome. We’re trained to support emotional release in a compassionate, non-judgmental way. You never have to hold back here.
How do I get started?
The first step is booking a virtual intake session, where we’ll explore your goals, answer your questions, and review boundaries and comfort levels. After that, you can choose from in-person or virtual cuddle therapy sessions. Click here to book now, or contact us with any questions—we’re here for you.
